Re: [saveenterprise] Re: Star Trek Reboot Hype

Manny the savior of Trek?  season four wasn't that bad, but it wasn't the best of ENTERPRISE.  I don't see, or get, the fascination with Manny Coto.....

Abrams would have treated (and will treat) any Trek the same as he treated his Trek movie: lots of action, a little sex and some minor foul language here and there to perk up the eyes and ears, lots of special effects, fast scene changes and new twists on an original theme so's to put his stamp on it. That's how. It's anybody's guess where he's going to take young Spock now that his planet is gone. Will Spock still try be devoid of emotion or will Abrams have him revert back to his violent ancestral roots every now and then just to make things exciting?
Yes, Manny would have been a great asset had he been attached to Enterprise from the outset because he realized its potential. Now I miss Trek TV (virtually all Trek is missing from my TV now) and any quality programming that would have followed.

le_dartagnan,

No argument there. After Manny dispensed with the (rather silly) alien Nazis story, virtually all of Season 4 was pure gold, as it got the series back on its original track: the lead-in for, and run-up to, TOS. Damned shame that the series was doomed by Paramount big-shots early on in Season 4. I've always felt that the season-long Xindi-arc, though ambitious and as well-brought- off as it was, actually took the series off-course. Manny put it back where it belonged, but was ultimately torpedoed for his good work. No matter what anyone feels about ENTERPRISE's concept, I feel that it was a very necessary show to do. One wonders how that storyline will fare in the Abrams ST Universe.

LL&P,
Dominick

The Reboot was a great, special effects action movie for the new crowd, but that's all it was. Just a great scifi movie for the new crowd. I haven't reserved the DVD yet. I may get it after Christmas when it goes on sale.
